New Street
A few yards north from Farrier Street lies New Street, which connects Middle Street to
High Street (originally Lower Street). The picture, looking from the High Street,
shows what appear to have been two public houses next door to each other on the north
(left) side of the street.
Middle Street north from New Street
Looking north from the junction with New Street, Golden Street can be seen on the
right.
Golden Street
The narrowness of these streets is again highlighted by the car at the top of Golden
Street. Until recently, the conservation area status of these streets prevented the
council from putting the double yellow lines on the road to ban parking!
Middle Street north from Golden Street
Looking north from Golden Street towards Silver Street, we see the Ship Inn on the
left. The large, cream-coloured house in the centre marks the junction with Silver
Street. The post-box on the wall by the front door of the house on the right is
Victorian.
