Thousands watch and listen in the sun
An audience estimated around four thousand local people and visitors packed Walmer Green to hear "their" band
On Sunday 12th September 1999, in the warm afternoon sun, the people of Deal were joined by hundreds of visitors on Walmer Green to hear the annual concert by the Royal Marines Band from the Memorial Bandstand.

 This year's concert was especially poingnant, being the 10th anniversary of the bombing of the School of Music, with the tragic death of the 11 young bandsmen whose names are recorded on the bandstand.
